WILDLIFE SPOTTING AT HILLS NATURE RESERVE

Have you ever been to a wildlife spotting reserve? The Hills Nature Reserve is one destination you should look forward to visiting. It is located on the coast of Kenya, in Mombasa. The reserve is comprised of coastal rainforest, woodland, and grassland. As one of the most extensive coastal forests in East Africa, this reserve is enriched with flora and fauna and is home to the most significant number of African elephants n Kenya. Other wildlife animals in this reserve include elephants, leopards, bush pigs, buffalo mongoose, antelopes, and other small mammals, such as bats are just a fraction of the land animals in this rainforest.

The forest is a crucial hotspot for birdlife, while the land hosts local species such as the red-necked-spur fowl. In addition, 111 bird species have been recorded, and they offer tourists a variety of sites in their natural habitat. Birds such as the ostrich eagle, African hawk, Kenya crested, sunbird, hornbill, and falcon are just a few of the many birds in this nature reserve. Also, insects and reptiles such as the python and cobra are present, making it not a walk in the park as you have to be careful not to be a victim to these animals.

The Hills Nature Reserve was established in 1968 with an average area of 300 square kilometers. It is known for its large elephant population, so it had to transfer over 150 elephants to the neighboring Tsavo National Park in 2005. Therefore, it fits the criteria for tourists to visit for a wildlife spotting expedition. Through game drives, walking safaris, and hiking in the afternoon, you will see the beautiful scenery of the wildlife in their natural habitat and witness various species of animals in the forest. Therefore, the hills Nature Reserve will offer you the complete package and enable you to experience the whole wildlife spotting adventure, leaving you with memorable experiences.
