Tsingy of Bemaraha

Tsingy of Bemaraha is located in Madagascar. It sits on two geological formations. These are the Little Tsingy and the Great Tsingy. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is popular for its dramatic landscape. It is located at a lower altitude making it very hot. It is a perfect place for hiking, game drives, and bird-watching. Most tourists add this natural wonder to their safari itinerary.

Tsingy of Bemaraha is home to some special species of wild animals. The most common species is Decken’s sifaka. It is one of the lemur species found in Madagascar. These agile fluffy white primates are stunning. Spotting them in the park is almost a guarantee. Tsingy of Bemaraha is home to a beautiful large number of endemic plant species. These are found in different ecosystems on steep slopes. It protects limestone formations, that is, the Petit and Grand Tsingy. The Manambolo River goes through the limestone creating an attractive view. The park is home to dramatic limestone needles forests. Its landscape is also scenic and great for hiking activities.

Tsingy of Bemaraha is situated at a low altitude. It has a hot and tropical climate. It experiences two weather seasons. The wet season is between November to March. Temperatures range between 19 to 35 degrees Celsius. Heavy downpours are common and roads may not be passable. The dry season is between April to October. Temperatures range between 17 and 34 degrees Celsius.

You will fly to Ivato International Airport in Madagascar. From here, your tour operator will take care of transfers to your destinations. The park is accessible from Bekopaka town. This is about 190 km from Morondava. Your drive will take about 10 hours. But you can also fly from the international airport to Morondava. Then, you will have a short drive to the park.
