The Masai people, famous for their bravery in battle and their skill as cattle herders, still use the same ancient metrics of wealth—the number of livestock and children—to determine their status in life. An authentic encounter that will allow you to learn about their way of life, customs, habits, traditions, food, and happiness. Not to mention, you are warmly welcomed here at Maji Moto. Inviting strangers into their homes is something these individuals are open to and even welcome. This trip will give you n new experience of experiencing with a new culture and the wildlife at Maasai Mara.
We are excited to share with you the detailed itenerary for this safari as below.
Itineraries
Day 1
Nairobi- Maji Moto Village
We will meet you at your hotel in Nairobi at the appointed hour and transport you to the home of the Maasai, one of the most well-known cultures in all of Africa. Cattle are the Maasai's most valuable asset and the mainstay of their culture because they provide the majority of their calories. The staples of a Maasai diet are meat, fresh blood, and fermented milk. In that case, fruits and vegetables are better served as a snack. One would assume they are quite unwell, yet that assumption would be incorrect. They avoid developing cardiovascular disease because they consume a wide variety of bitter herbs high in saponin, the active element that lowers cholesterol. As they practically never have cavities, their pearly white smiles are always captivating.
And so, they are in good health. Cattle and children are two further indicators of prosperity. A man is deemed to be financially impoverished if he has too much of one and not enough of the other.
But - it'll all be made clear when you get there! You may reach the Maji Moto eco-camp, located on top of a hill in the Loita Hills and close to the Maji Moto town after a three-hour journey from Nairobi, in time for lunch. After lunch, you'll go on a guided nature walk and receive a cultural "briefing" from the Maasai, then you'll learn how to build a fire and spend the evening listening to the tales of Maasai warriors around the campfire. Consider both traditional knowledge and the developments of recent times.
Day 2
Maji Moto Village
Come with us as we travel today across the plains to a bush campsite in the forest, where we will set up a traditional Maasai makeshift tent and spend the night beneath the stars. Kill a goat the "Olpul" way, surrounded by warriors and elders, while listening to stories and being blessed by the group while they eat their meal. Drink the local brew that is only created for rare occasions and contains ingredients like aloe root, honey, and herbs.
Spend the night on a lush bed under the stars in sleeping bags (supplied) at a bush camp guarded by brave warriors. Later on in the day you will head to Maasai Mara as the next site for tour.
Day 3
Maasai Mara
Start your day with a safari in Maasai Mara after breakfast. The Masai Mara National Reserve is well-known around the world. Everyone who has seen nature programs would recognize its tawny savannahs and their abundant fauna. This amazing ecosystem and the millions of herbivores it sustains are supported by regular rainfall and an abundance of plants. There are many different kinds of wild animals that call the Mara their home, including wildebeest, zebras, impalas, elephants, Masai giraffes, and gazelle. With so much prey in one place, predator populations like cheetahs, leopards, and the world's densest lion populations are able to thrive. There are also plenty of elephants, buffalo, and other animals.
Day 4
Depart for Nairobi
Have a game drive first thing in the morning, then return to camp in time for breakfast. Following that, we'll board a vehicle and proceed to Nairobi, where we'll drop you off at your hotel or the airport.
