Ruaha National Park Tour & Safari Packages

This is a national park in Tanzania, a southern extension of the Serengeti National Park.

It is one of the largest wilderness covered in golden savannah grassland studded with baobabs and misty hills stretching along the horizon. Ruaha National Park is known for having one of the best game viewing in Tanzania, with lots of black elands, giraffes, and elephants.

Popular activities in the park

  • Bird watching

One of the most popular activities in this park is bird watching homing over 570 species of birds, including the eponymous Ruaha red-billed hornbill. Migrant birds from Europe, Asia, Australia and Madagascar arrive during the rainy season between February and April. These birds have bright colors, which make them easier to spot among the trees and bushy savannah habitat. This makes bird watching is an excellent activity for people who want to spend more time in nature without distractions.

  • Hiking

There are no roads in this park, so hiking is the best way of navigating around the park. The numerous trails can be covered on foot, but they take up a lot of time and are only recommended for people who enjoy hiking. This is the best way to explore the diversely rich wildlife species in the park while enjoying the great climate.

  • Guided nature walks

Guided nature walks in the park offers a firsthand opportunity to learn more about the wildlife and listen to exciting stories from the guide. As one goes through the park, one takes notice of some the park of the most exotic wildlife such as black-backed jackal and the African wild dog. This is a prevalent activity with visitors who want to understand more about the fauna and flora of this great park.

  • Game drives, wildlife photography

Ruaha park being one of the largest parks in the region, game drive is the way of navigation. The open safari is great for wildlife photography and game viewing that all park guests should experience. The park is home to plentiful buffalo, zebra, giraffe, greater and lesser kudu, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, waterbuck, bushbuck, and impala which give a spectacular experience.

A boat safari at the Great Ruaha River that lasts most of the day, allows one to spot most of the park diversity while fishing.

 

  • Bushwalking

The park is famous for its open bushland, which provides a good chance for visitors to see wildlife. One can take several trails, which the guide will outline. However, most of these trails are meant for hikers and people who like to walk, so one might have to walk for hours to see some of the park’s wildlife. This activity is not recommended during the rainy season but can be done during the dry season.

The park’s primary source of tourism comes from hunting safaris and wildlife photography. The terrain is flat, with a great view of the surrounding areas. Where it is located

This park is located in the south of Tanzania, not far from the border with Mozambique. The park is divided into four blocks, including a section known as South Ruaha; this includes several areas closed off for conservation with no access to local people. This will allow One to experience everything the park offers at a fraction of what it would cost if one stays on-site. One can enjoy all the available activities and safaris with a lodge.
