Some interesting facts about Grand Anse

Grand Anse Beach

Grand Anse Beach is the longest beach on La Digue Island. It has a spectacular stretch of silver sand. Waving palm trees and granite rocks frame this beach. It has a different look from other beaches on the island. It does not look softer like other beaches. Instead, it looks wilder.

The coral reef at the beach does not offer any protection. The offshore currents tend to be very strong. As a result, the beach is not very safe for water sports such as swimming. This may be the reason why it receives fewer visitors. But it has long stretches of sand. It is also a great place to enjoy surfing.

The beach is calm, isolated, and not spoilt. Footprints are not common. While you can enter the pristine waters, you should be keen. Don’t go too far out. The best thing is to enjoy the views of coral reefs and the surroundings.  While the beach is rockier, it has some silky soft sand. This is enough for visitors. You can also relax in a restaurant on the beach with your preferred drink.

The beach has a sunrise viewpoint. It is a large granite rock pile found on the northern side of the beach. Tourists enjoy hiking to this point to view the beach from the top. On the west side of La Digue Island, there are many hotels. While visiting Grand Anse, you can choose from the budget, self-catering, and luxury resorts.
