Gombe National Park Tour & Safari Packages

Gombe National Park is one of the best places in Tanzania, with one of the wealthiest fauna, flora, and natural resources. It is situated approximately 80 km from Kigoma. The park houses an animal population that includes elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, rhinoceroses, and monkeys. The park is exceptionally rich in critters, such as the widespread sable antelope and the giraffes. Gombe National Park also has a lot of cultural importance as it is home to the Funyula people, who have lived on the land for centuries. Fishing is major is this region as the locals take it as an economic activity and has inspired sport fishing were they get to compete on the great Lake of Tanganyika.

Swimming

Gombe National Park has numerous places to enjoy swimming and kayaking; the Kihansi waterfall, Lake Tanganyika, and the Lenga waterfall. Gombe is a well-known tourist attraction in Tanzania because of its chimpanzee trekking opportunities. Chimpanzee trekking is an activity during the dry season since it becomes impossible during the rainy season when a lot of water comes into the park from River Kagera. The best time to go for chimpanzee trekking is between October and May. The park has a habituated troop of chimpanzees, which allows people to engage in close encounters with these great apes. Chimpanzee trekking can be a pretty educational and fun activity.

Gombe National Park offers safaris often termed the “Wildlife Drive” safaris. The drives offer amazing views of Lake Tanganyika and the islands in the middle of this Lake; one also has direct access to most park attractions, such as waterfalls, rock climbing trails, bird watching, and beach resorts. You can go on a safari to Lake Tanganyika in Gombe National Park, where you will have the chance to get to know the chimps in their natural habitat. This is one of the best things you can do in Gombe National Park; if chimps are not the favorite, one can consider going canoeing or kayaking.

Where to find Gombe National Park

Gombe National Park is found in Gombe District, Kigoma Region, Tanzania. Gombe National Park is found about east of Butiama and west of Mpanda. Gombe National Park is an excellent place for hiking and bird watching because it has a lot of tree-climbing lions, and it was once the base for Jane Goodall, who carried out her research on chimpanzees.

 

Best times to visit

The best time to visit Gombe National Park is during the dry season, from October to March. The best time of the year to go on a trek is between November and December; this is one of the best times for one because it has been when most animals have migrated away from the park. During the rainy season, it is not advisable to go trekking because there is so much water coming into the park from River Kagera.
