Bombolulu Cultural Centre and Workshop is an initiative of the Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya and offers numerous shops and a traditional whereby it exhibits communal and commercial restoration and enablement of individuals who are physically disabled. The local community started it in 1969, and in 1987 the Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya took over. Since then, it has engaged over 100 individuals with different abilities, men and women artisans who participate in crafting and training. The workshops are involved in producing jewelry, hand-printed fabrics, timber figurines and skin artistries for domestic and worldwide markets. The products are marketed in tourist hotels and the expansive showroom.

Tourists travelling to this place want to experience the cultural heritage; they are taken through a tour of their workshops and authentic cultural centre, which comprises of sic traditional homesteads of Kenyan tribes. They learn about fair trade and handicraft designs, adore the traditional cultural dances, sightsee authentic ethnic homesteads, and feast on distinctive Swahili food in their comforting open-air “Ziga” restaurant. Despite the tour being fun, it may be sobering to see the working condition of the disabled, but their products will take your breath away. Once you arrive at this destination, you are greeted by an enthusiastic group of tribes who clap and dance and encourage the visitors to do the same. The entrance tickets to this centre are affordable, ranging from 200 Kenyan shillings to 400 Kenyan shillings, depending on the age. Also, this centre’s neighbour’s other tourist destination, such as the Mamba Village, offers tourists options while visiting the centre. Therefore, the Bombolulu Cultural Centre and Workshop offers an incredible experience and insight into the local life and culture of the different tribes in Mombasa.
