8-Days Masai Mara Photographic Private Guided Safari Adventure

Overview

An 8-day Kenyan photographic adventure to the Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru National Park. Our standard practice is to arrange top-tier African photo safaris for serious wildlife photographers who desire more than just a basic “point and shoot” experience. Safaris in Kenya are planned so that visitors can see the big cats, the Masai Mara migration, and the abundant game of the Kenyan plains. On this safari, you’ll be able to see and photograph some of Africa’s most famous creatures like giraffes, zebras, lions, and cheetahs with the help of knowledgeable guides.

Our hope is that you will have a fantastic time and get those images you’ve always wanted to snap. Only our safaris include photographic driver’s guides who have been trained in the fundamentals of composition and lighting as they relate to photographing wildlife, so that they can position the vehicles for optimal photo opportunities.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you on a scenic drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, located in northern Kenya's Serengeti, one of the country's most popular game-viewing regions. Almost 700 square miles of pristine nature are protected in the reserve. This is the Africa of legend, with its vast stretches of acacia-studded meadows and hazy highlands. Sunset game drive in search of the "Big 5" (lion prides, elephant herds, buffalo, zebras, and other plain game), as well as other species of wildlife. Enjoy a delicious meal and a comfortable night's sleep at the Mara Jambo Lodge.

Main destination: Maasai Mara game reserve

Accommodation: Mara Jambo Lodge Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner + Drinking water is included.

We spent multiple days in the park, hoping to spot the "big 5" animals. At an additional fee of US$450 per person, a hot air balloon safari can be organized as an optional activity. Wildlife in the Mara is so diverse and numerous that it's hard to imagine there are only 450 species. You can expect to encounter a wide variety of animals, including lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, antelopes of many different types, and elephant. When it comes to natural phenomena, the Great Migration through the Mara is hard to beat. Every year, millions of wildebeest and zebra leave the Serengeti in Tanzania and travel hundreds of miles in search of water and grass. In their wake come the savanna's top predators, including as lions, tigers, cheetahs, wild dogs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures.

Masai Mara National Reserve is a natural wilderness of haunting beauty that promises its visitors a plethora of wildlife, a plethora of bird life, and the unheard-of chance to see the "Big Five" in one morning. Miles of lion-gold grasslands, shoals of lilac-misted hills, a flowing river, acres of thorn-bush, and miles upon miles of undulating solitude make up the 1,800 square kilometer area of this veteran reserve. Wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle leave the Serengeti plains in late June and go across the Tanzanian border and a number of rivers to arrive in the Mara rich grassland by early July, where they are pursued by lions, hyenas, and vultures. In the months of July and August, visitors can experience these stunning river crossings for themselves. With the exception of the rainy season, game watching is good all year. Elephants, black rhinos, buffalo, all the big cats, and pretty much every other kind of animal in Kenya may all be found here as well. Hippo and crocodile populations thrive in the rivers. From a total of 452 species, 53 are classified as raptors (including eagles, buzzards, and vultures).

After breakfast, depart the Masai Mara for the journey through the park to Lake Nakuru, where you will arrive in time for lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge. Take a game drive through a park teeming with wildlife after lunch. Have dinner and stay the night at the Lake Nakuru lodge. The flamingos and other birds (nearly 400 different kinds) at Lake Nakuru are the main attraction there. Soda is what the lake is named after, and it sits on the rift valley bottom. At times, there can be millions of flamingos in one area, making for a very breathtaking picture. The lake is encircled by a pink haze that looks stunning from afar. The Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhinoceros, in particular, have come to rely on the safety and security of the Lake as their only remaining home in the wild. Here you can see lions, waterbuck, buffalo, and baboons in their natural habitat.
