Tour Plan

You've arrived in Kenya! Your driver and guide will pick you up from the Nairobi airport and take you to your hotel. Your tour leader will brief you on the itinerary and what to anticipate during your time away. The driver will be pleased to take you about the city after you have checked in and gotten settled.

Local and regional specialties can be found in abundance in Nairobi's many restaurants, cafes, and markets. The Holy Family Minor Basilica and Jamia Mosque are only two of the city's many religious monuments. Before heading back to your accommodation, why not take a stroll in Uhuru Park?

The Maasai Mara National Reserve is located six hours west of Nairobi, so you'll take a shuttle there after breakfast. You'll get there just in time to check in at your lodging and have lunch. As soon as you've checked in, you may kick back and relax with the help of the hotel's amenities. The Mara River and its surrounding wildlife will be your viewing destination for the day tomorrow.

Two million wildebeest, zebra, and other antelope gather their young each year in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, where they risk being eaten by crocodiles as they make their way across the crocodile-infested Mara River. They are nomadic creatures, always on the lookout for more favorable climate conditions. It's impossible to find any migration with as many animals as the Great Migration, with the possible exception of butterflies and smaller birds.

Join your guide today as they take you to see the blue wildebeest, the only type of wildebeest found in Maasai Mara and Serengeti Park, crossing the Mara River as part of The Great Migration. The name "blue" refers to the way their shiny coats reflect light and look blue in bright sunlight. Residents and natives of the area may also use the term "gnu" to designate to this species. Because of the similarity between this and the sound the animals make, it is often used interchangeably with that sound.

In the Masai Mara and Serengeti, zebras are essential to the survival of wildebeest. Because they are selective grazers, wildebeest preferentially consume the grass that is a few inches or less in length. Fortunately, zebras are mass grazers, so they work as a lawnmower of sorts, cutting the grass short and making it more appetizing for the wildebeest to eat.

For the most portion of your day in Maasai Mara, you will be focused on seeing these two animals. Movements, conversations, and an effort to ford the Mara River may all be observed. When the day is done, you'll head back to camp for some downtime and a hearty meal.

Have breakfast before setting out to see the wildebeest and zebra once again on the Mara River. Seeing the animals up close and personal is made possible by the 4x4 safari vehicle you ride in to the park. Further information regarding the migration and the two species will be provided by your guide.

Swarm intelligence, in which a group of wildebeest explores and overcomes an obstacle in a methodical way as a whole, has been seen in wildebeest migrations, despite the appearance of chaos. The wildebeest may look helpless, but they are actually a very smart animal that can change their ways to ensure their own survival. The mother of a wildebeest, for instance, will abandon her newborn if it can't walk within four or five minutes.

Crocodiles in the Mara River pose the greatest danger to herds of animals attempting to cross the river. They lurk subtly, preparing to pounce on unsuspecting prey and drown them with a strong grip and a plunge below the water's surface. When attacking, a crocodile can extend its jaws and tail more than halfway out of the water to snag prey.

Your day will be spent watching the river and the migration, and you'll move from one viewing spot to another to get the greatest possible views. You will, once again, be back to camp in time for dinner and a quiet night in.

You will have breakfast and one last look at the Mara River in the morning. A later time, you can escape the wildebeest migrations and relax on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Around 75 miles (120 km) from Nairobi is where you'll find this freshwater lake located in a rift valley.

After checking into your lodging and having lunch, you can choose from a variety of Lake Naivasha activities. In the evening, you can return to your lakeside hotel to edit your images in the luxury of your room or the hotel's lounge. One option is to take an hour-long boat trip around the lake to see the hippos, while another is to go to Hellsgate Park, a popular spot for outdoor activities including birdwatching, cycling, and hiking. You can also go on a journey around the lake in a hot air balloon, a horse-drawn carriage, or a bicycle.

It is now time to leave Naivasha and Kenya behind. Following breakfast, you will make your way to the Nairobi airport in plenty of time to check in for your departure.
