Day 2: Nairobi โ Amboseli National Park (215km โ 4.5 Hrs)
Leave Nairobi with a picnic lunch in tow and head southeast towards Amboseli after a relaxing morning. See wildlife along the way, and get to the resort just in time to watch the sun go down. The park is mostly made up of a dry lake bed with evaporated salts, some grassland, and some acacia woodland. You can observe rhinos, giraffes, gazelles, lions, cheetahs, and leopards, among many other animals, at the park. The birdlife is particularly abundant in the marshy regions. All of this takes place beneath the watchful eye of Mount Kilimanjaro, which towers over the national park at an altitude of almost 5,000 meters. Nestled in a lush forest of acacia trees and surrounded by gorgeous gardens, Amboseli Serena Lodge may be found in the shadow of Africa’s tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. The lodge’s 96 spacious rooms are designed to resemble the manyattas (or dwellings) seen in a traditional Maasai settlement, complete with vibrant African decor. Unwind in the gardens, pool, and walks of the lounge terrace in the late afternoon and evening. See the wildebeest, antelope, elephant, and other animals come in to graze as the sun goes down. Get ready for a delicious meal at the lodge tonight. There will be an overnight stay in Amboseli.
Day 3: Amboseli โ Tsavo West National Park (150km โ 3 Hrs)
After an early breakfast and a morning game drive, guests can relax and enjoy a sumptuous lunch back at the lodge. Then, head to Tsavo West along the road that passes over the breathtaking Shetani lava flow, a harsh and scary lunar-like scene formed when molten fluid spilled down the beautiful slopes of the neighboring Chyulu Hills. The largest of Kenya’s parks is Tsavo West and East National Parks, which may be reached through a winding road through thorn and acacia scrub. You can see the wildlife as you travel to Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, especially gerenuk. This classic stone-built lodge is well located in the shade of Mount Kilimanjaro, shielded by the volcanic splendor of the Chyulu Hills, and looks out over a water hole frequented on a daily basis by elephants, buffalo, and other plains wildlife. The lodge was one of the first structures ever constructed in a national park, and its design prioritized visitor comfort and quiet for watching wildlife. Also, it is conveniently located among the park’s most popular sights. The lodge, whose name comes from the valley’s reputation as “the place of the young rhino,” is clad in volcanic stone and makes use of the valley’s natural rocky outcroppings. It has a thatched central dining area and a rock-built bar, as well as a viewing terrace that looks down on the waterhole below. Enjoy a relaxing evening with a meal at the resort. We will be spending the night in Tsavo West.
Day 4: Tsavo West โ Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary (100km โ 2 Hrs)
After breakfast, you’ll go on a game drive and then stop by Mzima Springs, where you can get a unique perspective on the park’s aquatic animals from a viewing chamber right below the water’s surface. You will leave Tsavo West after lunch and travel to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. The Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge recommends that guests check in before sundown. Inside the private refuge that borders Tsavo West National Park is where you’ll find the resort. All of the rooms are two stories tall, radiating out from a central pod through high decks that face out over a salted area and a shallow pool that is illuminated at night. Each room is large and equipped with every comfort you could want. The park’s fauna can be seen frequently using the waterhole and salt lick, which can be seen from the restaurant, bar, and major balconies. Underneath, you’ll find a hide that will keep you safe during incredibly close encounters. Enjoy a relaxing end to the day with a meal at the lodge. Spend the night in the Taita Hills.
Day 5: Taita Hills โ Depart Mombasa (230km โ 4 Hrs)
Mombasa and the surrounding area
Get up for one last breakfast before heading out to see the animals at Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. After lunch back at the lodge, you’ll set out for Mombasa, with the intention of arriving at your beach hotel on the northern or southern coast, or at Moi International Airport, no later than 5:30 p.m. Reservations for flights starting at 7:30 p.m.
