Tour Plan
When you land at Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo, your private English-speaking guide will be waiting to take you to your hotel, Maison Gallieni, in the city's upscale upper town, also known as "Tana." Maison Gallieni, a refurbished colonial home, features a tasteful fusion of contemporary and classic furnishings. If you become bored of lounging by the pool while taking in the views of the city, get out to discover Antananarivo's vibrant streets, historic buildings, and unique Indonesian style. Later you will have an evening stay and dinner in your hotel.
You will meet your guide in the morning, and then travel the four hours east to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. The indri lemur, the largest living species of lemur, is only found in two regions of this spectacular rainforest park: the Perinet Special Reserve and Mantadia National Park.
Along the journey to Andasibe, you'll see rice paddies, redbrick homes, and roadside stands offering seasonal fruits and vegetables, giving you a taste of rural life in Madagascar. You will check into Manjarano Lodge around lunchtime, and you will spend the next three nights there, enjoying the lodge's full-service accommodations.
This evening, you and your local guide can embark on an amazing night stroll to witness the nocturnal life of Madagascar.
Following an early morning breakfast, you and your guide will go to the Analamazaotra Special Reserve (or Perinet Reserve), a 180-hectare tract of unspoiled jungle. Find the elusive indri, a lemur with a distinctive black and white pattern, a short, nearly invisible tail, and an expressionless face that looks like a surprised teddy bear. It is also one of the few animals that dies in captivity. There are eleven further lemur species to look for.
The Nuthatch vanga, blue coua, velvet asity, and many other endemic species of birds can all be found in Perinet Reserve, in addition to a wide variety of reptiles, insects, and orchids native to Madagascar.
After lunch, you'll travel to the Mitsinjo association's (a local group) side of the forest.
Join a ranger tonight for a walk around the forest at night. See nocturnal lemurs such the Goodman's mouse lemur, woolly lemur, white-footed sportive lemur, and furry-eared dwarf lemur. Later an evening stay and dinner in your hotel.
You'll have a picnic lunch and spend the day exploring Mantadia National Park after meeting your guide in the morning. The drive takes around an hour and a half. A wide variety of lemurs, such as the indri lemur, grey bamboo lemur, red-bellied lemur, white-ruffed lemur, and diademed sifaka, can be found in this beautiful park.
The routes may be little more difficult, but the spectacular and less populated forest more than makes up for it. The breasted coua, scaly ground roller, and pitta-like ground roller are just a few of the unique bird species that call this region home.
Before you make the hike back to the vehicle and the lodge, stop for a picnic beside the Rianasoa Waterfall. This evening, you and your local guide can go on another thrilling night stroll through the forest. Later you will have an evening stay and dinner in your hotel.
After a leisurely morning meal, you'll head back to Antananarivo and spend the night at the Relais des Plateaux Hotel & Spa, where you'll receive a full meal plan during your stay. The hotel first launched in 2005 to accommodate foreign guests with its convenient blend of historic charm and contemporary amenities. An evening stay and dinner in your hotel.
Before your trip to Diego Suarez in the north, rest and refuel at the Relais des Plateaux in Tana. You will be met and helped by a guide upon arrival, and from there you will be transferred to Nosy Ankao via helicopter.
A thrilling helicopter journey over rugged coastline, baobab trees, and shipwrecks in the Indian Ocean culminates in a soft landing on a private island off the coast of Madagascar.
Regain your childlike awe at a place where five-star accommodations consist of setting foot where no man has gone before and taking in the sights of an unspoilt landscape. Miavana combines the rough and the smooth by uniting wilderness exploration with responsible tourism and environmental protection. Your presence will help ensure the area's continued viability in the long run. This small, ten square kilometer retreat is ideal for getting away from it all.
Five nights of pure bliss in Miavana by Time+Tide, including all meals.
Only 14 oceanfront villas exude castaway luxury at Miavana. Make yourself at home in this otherworldly retreat, complete with panoramic ocean views, private beach access, and an open floor plan that seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces. Hand-dyed linens, Malagasy wood, and native stone were used to create a one-of-a-kind aesthetic throughout.
Forest strolls, snorkeling, boat cruises, island cultural visits, shore boarding, kite surfing, wind surfing, cycling, and the use of an electric buggy are all part of your all-inclusive vacation. Have fun with optional activities and adventures, including taking more helicopter rides and going scuba diving.
Cross "Lemur Trekking” off your list as you enter untouched forests teeming with over 100 different kinds of lemur and “Scuba Diving” off your radar as you explore bright reefs, sea turtles, and manta rays beneath azure waters. Exciting ocean excursions in pursuit of migrating humpback whales and spinner dolphins are available at certain times of the year. An evening stay and dinner in your hotel.
The helicopter ride back to Diego Suarez airport will take about 30 minutes after you finish your final meal at Miavana.
You will be met and helped through the check-in process for your two-hour flight within Argentina, from Diego Suarez to Tana.
The Relais des Plateaux Hotel & Spa is conveniently located near the airport, and you will be met by your guide upon arrival. Spend your last day and evening in Madagascar relaxing by the pool, or doing some last-minute souvenir shopping. An evening stay and dinner in your hotel.
Your one-night stay includes all meals. Your hotel will arrange for a transfer to the airport so that you may check in for your journey home. Your breathtaking, all-inclusive vacation in Madagascar has come to an end, but you'll always have the pictures and stories to remember it by.
