Many of the 2019 Lion King's computer-generated graphics are based on Kenyan footage. This spectacular 10-day safari offers grandstand views of these gorgeous settings and up-close interactions with the movie's famed animals.

This Lion King journey begins in an award-winning camp in a private game reserve that serves as a wildlife dispersal place for Amboseli National Park animals. Lion, cheetah, giraffe, striped hyena, and the famous Amboseli elephants live in this stunning protected region.

Next, visit East Africa's largest black rhino habitat and chimpanzee refuge in a remote valley. You'll stay at an intimate eco-camp in Kenya's Laikipia region's Ol Pejeta Conservancy, one of our New Safari Bucket List's best-kept secrets. Visit Baraka, Ol Pejeta's black rhino ambassador, and track the Big 5 with Maasai guides.

Elsa, another famous lion, lives in Meru National Park. George and Joy Adamson raised and buried Elsa the Lioness on Meru. Rhino River Camp's rooms have private meditation areas and serene views of the Kindani River. Meru National Park's Big 5—elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion, and leopard—are minutes away from camp.

This Kenyan safari ends in an award-winning tented lodge. For wildlife conservation and low-impact tourism, the Olare Motorogi Conservancy borders the Masai Mara National Reserve. Spend your last days off the main path with private wildlife drives and Maasai warrior-led bush treks.

We are excited to share with you the detailed itinerary for this safari as below.

Itineraries

Day 1-2

Welcome to Africa! | 1 Night

When you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you'll be greeted by a helpful guide who will take you to the tent city of Nairobi. Located just 7 kilometers (4 miles) from the center of Kenya's capital city, this genuine safari camp lies in the midst of Nairobi National Park, the country's most easily accessible safari site. Nairobi Tented Camp is a peaceful oasis in the midst of a riverine forest, and it's the perfect place to rest up before venturing out into the jungle.

Day 2-4

Encounter Amboseli’s gentle giants | 2 Nights

You will be taken to Wilson Airport right after breakfast to catch a quick flight to Selenkay Conservancy. You'll be picked up at a bush airstrip and taken to Porini Amboseli Camp via a journey that includes a game drive. This little camp has roomy tents decorated in the classic safari style of yesteryear. Your tent features a private bathroom with a shower, wash basin, and flush toilet, and is tastefully decorated with solar-powered lighting.
Take guided wildlife drives through Selenkay Conservancy and Amboseli National Park. Explore the diverse animal life of this area and see big cats, giraffes, and elephants. Spend a day in Amboseli taking in the breathtaking scenery of Mount Kilimanjaro and enjoying a picnic meal. Back in Selenkay, you can engage in night game drives and Maasai warrior-led bush walks, both of which are banned inside the national park.

Day 4-6

Discover Kenya’s best-kept secret | 2 Nights

Returning to Wilson Airport, you will proceed to Laikipia's Rhino Porini Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy on a second flight. Ol Pejeta is a wildlife refuge on the slopes of Mount Kenya, and it is home to the Big 5 as well as the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. Seven roomy tents with breathtaking vistas make up the camp, which is located in a remote valley on the wooded banks of a seasonal river.
Take guided walks with Maasai experts, go on game drives in search of the Big Five, and relax with a drink as the sun goes down in breathtaking settings. Baraka, a Black Rhino, is a popular attraction at Rhino Porini Camp. He was rescued after losing an eye protecting his territory from another bull, and he eventually lost his sight in both eyes. Baraka lives at the Morani Information Centre and represents the black rhino population in Ol Pejeta.

Day 6-8

Journey To Elsa The Lioness’ Final Resting Place | 2 Nights

Transfer to the airfield for your chartered flight to Meru National Park follows your morning game drive and breakfast. Rhino River Camp is located on the outskirts of Meru in a secluded forest area. Relax in your opulent cottage as you take in views of the winding Kindani River below or spend some time in the dedicated meditation space.
At Rhino River Camp, your every want is catered to, whether you like to unwind with a massage or bask in the sun by the pool. In Meru, visitors can go on game drives and bush walks in search of the Big 5, hippos, cheetahs, and more than 300 different species of birds.

Day 8-10

Escape the tourist trail | 2 Nights

After saying your goodbyes on one last game drive before leaving Meru, you will be transferred to the airfield for your chartered aircraft to the Masai Mara. Porini Lion Camp, your last stop, is a prize-winning lodge hidden away in the untouched Olare Motorogi Conservancy. With its proximity to the Masai Mara National Reserve, this private conservation area provides excellent opportunities to see wildlife in its natural habitat. A solar-powered bedside lamp illuminates your private veranda, and a hot shower and flush toilet await you in the tent's attached bathroom.
The game drives here are some of the best in the world. Elephants, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, elands, and gazelles are just some of the resident game you might see in the Masai Mara. The Mara is also home to the three most well-known cats in the world: the lion, the cheetah, and the leopard. One of nature's greatest sights, the yearly Wildebeest Migration, can be seen if you travel there between between July and November.

Day 10

Farewell Kenya

You will go on a morning game drive and then have breakfast before being driven to the airfield for your flight to Nairobi. From there, you can either fly home or continue on to another city in Africa. Talk to one of our Africa Safari Experts about adding side trips to your Kenya safari.
