Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
We visit the southern Kenyan Maasai Community today. Drive to Namanga, the Kenya-Tanzania border settlement. Continue on to the village where the men and women welcome you with songs and dances. Dance with them. Nilotic Maasai live in northern, central, and southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. Due to their proximity to African Great Lakes wildlife parks and unique customs and dress, they are well known internationally. Maasai are unique. Their red robes stand out. They face danger calmly with spears. One of the few tribes to retain much of its customs, culture, and lore, they dominated the early 20th century. The Maasai, like their wildlife neighbours, need a lot of land. The Maasai are semi-nomadic and pastoral, herding livestock and goats and believing God gave them to care for! After dancing with the villagers, refresh at the village and start the day's goat slaughtering, meat preparation, roasting, and blood tasting/drinking. Discover how women build Manyatta mud huts and make fire without matchboxes.
